The end of the year is upon us, which means everyone will be revealing some pretty wild reading goals. While hitting a reading goal should always be celebrated, it doesn’t reflect how “great” of a reader someone is. In 2023, I read a total of 109 books, something that astonished even me. It’s also worth noting that in 2023, I went through a layoff and was unemployed for nearly six months. Something had to fill that time, and when I wasn’t aggressively job-hunting, I was devouring any book I could get my hands on.
This year, I’ve managed to hit my goal of 50 books, but I definitely won’t hit anywhere near last year’s count, and I’m completely fine with that. Juggling multiple jobs, writing my own novel, and maintaining Page x Pixel has been taking up the majority of my time. We all have different responsibilities and obligations to fulfill, and most of them are great at turning reading times into microscopic moments.
Numbers don’t define your ability as a reader. Whether you’ve read 1 book or 1000, I’m still happy that you’ve made an attempt to enjoy books! With that being said, what are some of the best books you’ve read in 2024? What are you looking forward to in 2025?
