Sarah J. Maas, author of popular series A Court of Thorns of Roses, Throne of Glass, and Crescent City, is making waves as she becomes the year’s bestselling author so far.
Romantasy has become a powerhouse genre for readers, with Fourth Wing and its sequel Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros dominating bestseller lists in 2023. ACOTAR has propelled romantasy books to mainstream audiences, and in 2023, nine of the 10 bestselling books sold in March alone fell into either the fantasy or romance genres.
For Maas, 2024 has been a year of massive success. ACOTAR is the third bestselling book of the year so far, with the second of the series, A Court of Mist and Fury, placed at ninth on the list. The author has sold 3.1 million copies of her books so far this year, the numbers including House of Flame and Shadow which was released in January.
In fact, the title was so successful that Bloomsbury increased its earnings estimations for its fiscal year. It’s still currently the bestselling novel of 2024.
