Initial reports suggested the Nintendo Switch 2 would launch Holiday Season 2024, but now there are whispers confirming the next-gen Nintendo console will be pushed to Q1 2025.
Bloomberg reported, “Nintendo Co. is advising game publishers that its next-generation console will be delayed until the early months of 2025, according to people with knowledge of the matter. Nintendo has told some publishing executives not to expect the console until March 2025 at the earliest.”
Some are suggesting the delay may revolve around Nintendo’s need to amp up a stronger launch lineup, especially considering the release date still falls in the same fiscal year, but others wonder if the move may actually signal a lack of Nintendo Switch exclusives.
This news seems to continue to encourage the next race of console releases. Recently, Sony revealed that the PlayStation 5 is expected to enter the latter stage of its life cycle next fiscal year, stoking rumors of a PS6 release, or at the very least, the rumored PlayStation 5 Pro.
Beyond Nintendo’s internal briefing, nothing has been confirmed. Keep an eye out here for any official updates!
